Internet marketing tips for your small business.

Make your Website Stand Out in Conference Rooms

Until recently, most web designers only thought about what your website looked like on a desktop or a laptop computer. With the introduction of responsive style sheets, and responsive design more and more of them are actually thinking through what your website should look like on a tablet or on phone. They’re doing a great job of that. A responsive style sheet does more than just allow you to correspond your design to a desktop versus a phone. It actually let’s you design for monitor or screen sizes of any size.

I feel like there’s one type of monitor that every designer I talk to is overlooking. That’s the giant conference room or big screen monitor that everybody puts your website up on when they get together to meet you in the conference room. Selling to the board room, being a B to B salesperson, it is not uncommon for me to be invited to a meeting with a number of decision makers and sit down at a conference room table and see our website up on a big conference room monitor. Why not be strategic. Know that that will happen to you, whether you’re in the room or not, and actually think through what you want your website to look like.

Designing for Conference Room Screens

People are not going to read the details from ten or twenty feet away. They want to see impact, they want to get a clear message, they want to get huge images, they want to understand what it is that you do and how professional you are. Talk to your website designer about how your website looks the next time somebody takes a look at it in the boardroom on a 60″ or larger monitor. And if you plan for that you will blow the competition away because you can imagine they’re not only looking at your website in one meeting, but they’re looking at several websites. It’s a great way for you to stand out, you’re going to close more business and you’re going to be glad that you learned this trick.

Make sure that you think not only about a phone, not only about a tablet, not only about a laptop, and a desktop. All the way up to the big screen monitor, have some fun with it, you’re website will stand out from the competition.
